5 stars for Sybil Bartel & her Ruthless alpha!
Blurb:
Bodyguard.
Protector.
Security Detail.
I wasn't supposed to join the Marines and serve three tours. I'd been groomed to be another kind of warrior. Since I could walk, I'd been primed to take over the family business. Build the real estate empire bigger, ruthlessly fight my way to the top—make everyone richer.
Instead, I'd enlisted. Wanting to protect my country, not a bank account, I'd turned my back on the family business and gave the Marines eight years. Now I was a bodyguard for the best personal security firm in the business, and life was perfectly uncomplicated... Until an innocent redhead smiled at me and destroyed everything.
Now she was about to find out how ruthless a bodyguard could be.
*RUTHLESS is the fourth standalone book in the Alpha Bodyguard Series.
Review:
I can sing Sybil's praises all day when it comes to writing alphas that make you swoon. No joke every book they just get hotter & hotter but Sawyer oh my Sawyer. He is on another level. See I'll be honest, in the first book that we meet Sawyer I thought he was a straight up dick. I had a feeling he would get his own story so I tried to keep an open mind but it was tough. Then in Reckless (Tyler's story) I seriously started to love the guy. He is the perfect example of looking beneath the surface to see someone's true self. Sure he's rich beyond all belief but he truly doesn't care. He is who he is & his family doesn't define him. Now we also got to meet his lady love Genevieve in Reckless & you would never imagine that they would make a good couple but they do. Now I've said it before & I'll keep on saying it. Every time the heroine is a red head I immediately love her. No shame in supporting my fellow 5%. But the fact that Sawyer loves redheads? Yup I'm all in!
This story follows them on an intense journey of dealing with car jackings, Florida gangs, car chases with TALON, hospital visits, shootouts, PTSD, uptight family, & a whole lot of sexual tension. In short I couldn't put this book down for anything. I was that enthralled. SB really knows how to weave a tale & she did not disappoint with this one at all.
My Favorite Parts:
- Meeting Preston & Ty. Seriously Preston may seem off but I am seriously digging him & his brain. Ty may seem unstable but that ASL conversation with his son? (swoon!)
- I seriously love how every girl Sybil writes has to get the Talon seal of approval & that car chase!!
- Marek... just... Marek *heart eyes*
- Under me, over me, on her knees, I didn't care. I'd imagined a hundred ways to take her, and all of them involved the same thing. Dominating the fuck out of her nervous energy and innocence.
- Nothing about her was anything I'd ever wanted or needed, but all I could think about was having her thick hair wrapped around my hand as I made her submit.
- Ty Smirked "Who knew? The billionaire does have a vice. His downfall?" He grinned and waited a beat like I was going to answer his bullshit question. "Redheads"
- "It's beautiful." I whisper-cried.
His arms rested on his knees, his head turned toward me, he stared into my eyes like he knew every fear and regret that was eating me alive.
I wanted to lean into him. I wanted to run away. I wanted his arms around me, and I wanted to forget I'd ever laid eyes on him.
But when he spoke...
"You're beautiful."
I wanted my heart back.
