This trilogy by Meghan March gets 4 stars & that's not because the love story wasn't amazing.
I will be the first one to tell you I am a huge fan of Meghan March. This trilogy is the third in a row for her when it comes to her becoming the queen of the cliffhangers. That's why this time around I decided to try out binge reading. Instead of reading one book at a time then having to reread the last book or last two books before I read the next one because I forgot bits & pieces. Boy am I glad I did. Honestly if I hadn't I think I would have gotten to frustrated & gave up. She said while promoting these books that it was her "most twisty turny story yet." She did not lie. It was so twisty turny that if I hadn't binged them I would have forgotten bits & pieces. There were so many even binging it was hard to keep them all straight. Now I don't hate cliffhangers but I do hate when a book resolves absolutely nothing & leaves a million things up in the air. Then the couple is up shit creek without a paddle & that is exactly how Lincoln & Whitney seemed to be throughout most of this series. Especially throughout the first two books because they were still in limbo with their relationship. The third book was much more enjoyable for me because they were finally tackling problems together & facing them head on. Finally resolving some of the plethora of dramas that were thrown their way. Not that the dramas didn't continue to be thrown at them. Boy did they ever! It was a twisting, turning, shocking, surprising journey that had me at the edge of my seat. Things just keep hitting them again & again. They never seem to be able to get their feet completely under them before something else comes along & knocks them down. Now don't get me wrong, the story as a whole was absolutely enthralling. I couldn't put it down because I just had to see what was going to come at them next & how they would deal with the new problem. It was like a very intense chaotic soap opera. But the quiet moments between these two. Wow. The love between them is so absolutely breathtaking. When the third book came around & they finally showed their true feelings & faced things together you just knew nothing could ever stop them. They are obviously meant to be together. The supporting characters are amazing as well. Commodore & Magnus being my favorites because those two are hilarious! Cricket was a hoot & I loved how loyal she is. I'm hoping for a story for Asa & McKinley sometime in the future as well! We also get to be introduced to Jericho Forge, who MMs next trilogy will focus on. Not to mention we get to see Creighton & Holly from MMs Dirty Billionaire trilogy. (PS: I freaking love those two & that trilogy!) Then we get to see Boone Thrasher & Ripley Fisher from the Real Dirty duet. Which is one of the spin off duets of the Dirty Billionaire trilogy. If you subscribe to MMs newsletter you will also get a bonus scene with our love birds, Holly, Boone & Ripley that is so sweet! All in all the story was great, while frustrating at times. But the love story between these two was absolutely brilliant! For those reasons these books get 4 stars from me. But not for lack of a true love story.
